Vasil Sokolov had a very impressive game in the last round for
BC Balkan Botevgrad U16 team and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The had a double-double of 32 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat
Freedom UA (#89,
0-4), the league's bottom-ranked team
83-70. Thanks to this victory
Balkan moved-up to the 4th position in EYBL U16. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season.
Balkan will need more victories to improve their
3-1 record. In the team's last game Sokolov had a remarkable 73.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at
Balkan and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Sokolov has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 33.5ppg. Sokolov is in league's top in and averages solid 75.0% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was guard
Nicholas Popa (183-G) of
Rapid Bucuresti U16 team. Popa impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Of course he led Rapid to another comfortable win
78-63 over the lower-ranked
CSKA (
2-2) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Rapid to move up to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a
2-2 record is not bad and everything may still change. Popa is a newcomer at Rapid and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was
Maksym Suprun (199-PF-2010) of
Freedom UA Kyiv (#89). Suprun got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for eighteen rebounds . Despite Suprun's great performance the Freedom UA lost
70-83 to the higher-ranked
Balkan (#4,
3-1). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Freedom UA can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 4 games. Suprun has individually a great season in EYBL U16. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.3ppg (8th best) and rebounds with 10.5rpg (3rd best).

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
